Do you forget to say your prayers?

My morning prayers are set in my habits and with great exception I never forget them. If I have to say them in the afternoon I will. During the day I say little prayers. Nonetheless my evening prayers are spotty at best. For an older person I stay busy all day and when it comes to the evening my sand runs out of my hourglass.

When we pray, we are connecting with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This is the Triune God we worship and adore. Hebrews quotes Jeremiah 31:31-34 which says in part, I will be their God and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his fellow citizen and kin, saying “Know the Lord,” for all shall know me, from least to greatest. For I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sins no more.

In my opinion that is what friends do.

There are some people who look down on others, because they are too young, too old, too thin, too fat or some other standard that is irrelevant. Humans can misunderstand one another, but there is no misunderstanding on God’s part. He says, I will be their God and they shall be my people.

We belong to God.

Jeremiah also says, from least to greatest. For I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sins no more. This does not give us a free pass to sin. Sin separates us from our God. People hold a grudge, but God does not.

Prayer is our daily connection to Our God. The slate is wiped clean every day. Every time we make new our relationship with God. Tomorrow, my nephew, Gabriel, will be Baptized. He will be a new citizen of God. He begins his life of service to our God.

There might be misunderstanding between people, different sides of political discourse but there is only one God. Our prayers though imperfect is new every day. We may forget to pray or sin but we are citizens of God. With repentance He remembers our sins no more. This morning I prayed. I prayed during the day. I may forget to say my evening prayers tonight, but because this is a new day, I am a citizen of God. God forgives.

Thank God!

God Love You Always

You write “my sand runs out of my hourglass.” Is a very kind way of saying – I’m old. ;-).
