Friday September 29th, Saints Michael, Raphel and Gabriel, Archangels

Do you have a relationship with an Angel ?

As part of my morning prayers, I say a prayer to Saint Michael and Saint Raphel and once in a great while to my Guardian Angel. When God is praised and when someone does the right thing for someone else , I feel the presence of angels.

There are times when I don’t know how I am going to make it through the day. I petition Jesus to get me through it and at the end of the day, I marvel at how easy it was. If you have had a similar experience, let us know. There are no coincidences with God. He sent angels to help.

Every time we do God’s will there is probably an angel helping us.

The Devil who is also an angel only helps us to sin. Most of the time I sin on my own with no help from him.

Well last Saturday we had a Parish workday. The men of the Parish go to the house of needy Parish members and do yardwork, paint, electrical or other odd jobs for people in the Church. My team’s job was to do yardwork. It was a beautiful Fall day and the team did a wonderful job on this lady’s house. I worked for two and a half hours and had to leave. I couldn’t do anymore. The good news is that I survived and the team got the job done. What is nice about a team of motived Christian men is that as a team they have gifts of youth and skill and where one person lacks something the others take over.

I will do the workday again. I don’t always leave early. Sometimes we run out of gas and that’s why we need others and angels. The help we gave as a team is like the help we receive from angels. They take up our slack. Nonetheless, we need to ask. No one person goes through life alone.

We all need the help of angels.

Angels don’t need our help, but we are blessed when we help them. They are around us and we may never recognize them. In the Book of Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.

I work part time in a Deli at a local grocery store. It is more therapy for me than money. The interaction with so many people invigorate me. I am paid to be nice and serve everyone equally. This certainly is reason to be generous to anyone but Bishop Sheen writes, “To be kind to the beautiful and not to the ugly, to the rich and not the poor, cannot be a love of neighbor, but love of self.”

We can never be certain when we meet an angel, but we know they are here to help and protect us. Angels of God ascending and descending.’ Angels of God praising God in Heaven are ascending and Angels of God descending to earth and serving us.

God Love You Always

  1. “War broke out in heaven”
    Revelation 7:12

How could this happen in heaven and will it happen again? These are probably in my top ten list of questions for our Heavenly Father.

  2. Thank you Bob. The thought of angels being present in our everyday lives gives me such a warm and secure feeling. They encounter us frequently…are we on notice in our daily activities? God sends them to look over our shoulders. Peace with you my brother.

  3. Today the feast of St Michael…
    St. Michael the Archangel,
    Defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
    and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
    by the power of God,
    thrust into hell Satan,
    and all the evil spirits,
    who prowl about the world
    seeking the ruin of souls.
    Amen.

  4. I don’t normally read the reflections twice, but today I did. Thought provoking quote from Bishop Sheen.
Thank you Bob for taking the time to write for the CM.

  5. Thank you for your timely reflections Bob and thank you for always asking your readers to pray for those of us with cancer. It is a real blessing and comfort and I ask all readers to continue to pray for us.

A good weekend to all and a restful and observant Sabbath.

  6. Very beautiful and peaceful reflection ! I stand in awe sometimes, when I cross paths of others, that their angels are with me also, next to me.

  7. Thank You Bob for this reflection. I’m a true believer in Angels. I have a collection all around my house. Many times my Angels have shown me how they are there to protect me and give me the strength and courage to get through some of the worst situations and moments in my life. BELIEVE 😇 I thank God for sending them!! 🙏🏼

  8. Angels in morning prayer every day. All who are near are invited to pray, my families angels, my neighbors angels, even those accompanying people driving by at prayer time are invited. Thus the slight change to the prayer: Angels of God our guardians dear…”

  9. Thanks Bob for your reflection on angels! I pray to St Michael and also “our guardian angels” for myself and family as part of my prayers. I know God and angels are active in my life and have led me to where I am and need to be!
