He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
The others at the table said to themselves,
“Who is this who even forgives sins?”
But he said to the woman,
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

I am her. I want my sins forgiven. I want to sit on the front pew singing my heart out, eyes shut and immersed in the moment when I hear the Lord’s word. Kneel down and say a prayer for my family, friends, patients, and myself for the week!

Every Sunday I am reminded my faith is what keeps me through. I am sometimes convinced that the Lord is like, “Why is she praying for everyone?” because I always do. I wish my sins could be forgiven so easily, and over the years I realized they are—I just hold onto the guilt so bad it hurts.

As I read the Gospel, I know I would do exactly what she did. Show my faith and wear it on my sleeve. Often I feel weird because I’m so trained to be good at times. I wonder how many times I compromised my safety!

This reading reminded me being a faithfilled human is cool and makes me happy. Makes me feel better and happier!

AMEN
