“The bridegroom is here! Go out and meet him.”
The language of the cross may be illogical to those who are not on the way to salvation, but those of us who are on the way see it as God’s power to save.
Jesus broke the mold of the “Status Quo”. Salvation is not handed to you. Heaven is there but you can’t just sit down and not pro-actively participate in Jesus’ plan to achieve it. Those w ho were ready went in with him to the wedding hall and the door was closed. We still have to be ready.2Timothy 4:7-8 I have competed well; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.
These 10 women could just as easily be 10 men. The point is that 5 were ready and 5 were not. They all seemed to be good people. They probably followed the commandments and loved their neighbor. They were trying to do the right thing. The thing that separated the successful and unsuccessful was a motivation and a plan. The 5 that failed lacked a plan. Their motivation was not all that obvious. They were not committed to the Kingdom of God. They may not have sinned but didn’t go the extra mile to help a neighbor or visit the sick or visit a prisoner (Matthew25:35-45)
Christianity is a participatory life. Christianity is a team sport. The main point is that it is not a game. We all need to win. We get one chance to succeed, and it takes a lifetime to succeed. (2Timothy 4:7-8).
I would like to take a moment to that everyone for the kind words resulting from my wife, Annas, death. Her race is over but we are still running that race. God Bless you all.
