Monday of the 9th Week of Ordinary Time: Peace be with you

In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9).

Peace is one of the deepest desires of the human heart. In every age, people have longed for peace—in families, communities, nations, and within themselves. Our world today continues to experience division, conflict, violence, and uncertainty. Yet Jesus reminds us that peace is not merely the absence of war or disagreement; it is a gift from God and a fruit of a heart rooted in His love.

A peacemaker is not simply someone who avoids conflict. A peacemaker actively works to bring reconciliation, understanding, forgiveness, and unity. This requires courage, patience, humility, and a willingness to listen. It means choosing love over resentment, dialogue over hostility, and mercy over judgment.

Jesus Himself is the Prince of Peace. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He reconciled humanity with God and taught us to live as brothers and sisters. When we welcome Christ into our hearts, His peace transforms us and enables us to become instruments of peace for others.

Today, we can ask ourselves: Am I bringing peace to my family, workplace, parish, and community? Do my words heal or wound? Do I seek reconciliation when relationships are broken?
Peace begins in the heart.

Have a wonderful Week
