While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed,
He asked them, “Have you anything here to eat?”
They gave him a piece of baked fish;
He took it and ate it in front of them.
As a foodie, the famous line I ask wherever I go—home, work, or otherwise. My life is always food motivated! So much like me, Jesus appeared to his ecstatic disciples and said, “Let’s eat!”
Hunger is a physiological process that compels us to do a lot of acts—work to earn money to buy food, cook good food, watch shows / read recipes to make better dishes to eat, organize events and meetings around food, and try cuisines when traveling across the world!
Hunger cravings or pangs also can appear as false cravings when in fact we are dehydrated or even sleepy. The craving may be intense and associated with easy irritability and termed as “hangry.”
As Christians we are to hunger for the word of God; unlike Thomas, we believe in this craving to learn more about the Lord, and we turn to scripture! – Listening or reading or even better, enacting the teachings into our daily lives!
“Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer
and rise from the dead on the third day
and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins,
would be preached in his name
to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things.”
We hunger to have such faith in the Lord, who knew very well how life would end and yet never once deviated from His purpose of teaching the kingdom of the Lord!
It’s time to channel our hunger pangs into improving our faith. Praise the Lord!
P.S I am typing my reflections, and all thoughts are exclusively mine. I appreciate and love the comments, but sometimes the policing makes me very uncomfortable! I will post as regularly as I can; however, if I feel uncomfortable, I might have to skip a few !
AMEN.
