He has Risen Picture by Frank from Ohio.
The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.
Wednesday in the Octave of Easter
Jesus has Risen!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!
Peter and John were going up to the temple area
for the three o’clock hour of prayer.
And a man crippled from birth was carried
and placed at the gate of the temple called “the Beautiful Gate” every day
to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple.
When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple,
he asked for alms.
But Peter looked intently at him, as did John,
and said, “Look at us.”
He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.
Peter said, “I have neither silver nor gold,
but what I do have I give you:
in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.”
Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up,
and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.
He leaped up, stood, and walked around,
and went into the temple with them,
walking and jumping and praising God.
When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
they recognized him as the one
who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple,
and they were filled with amazement and astonishment
at what had happened to him.
Emphasis mine, Acts 3: 1-10
I have read or heard this reading for the past seventy plus years, and I have felt a sad feeling that Peter and John could help change lives and I or, I should say we, can’t.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
We can pray for people and believe our prayers will have a healing effect for the person being prayed for.
According to C.S. Lewis, Jesus brings us to pray, gives us the prayers we are to pray, and takes our prayers to God the Father.
Recently we have been praying for a young woman who had a very severe case of Colon Cancer. Every day we mentioned her in our prayers and prayed for a complete healing.
Her dad, don’t forget we have only one Father, God the Father, told me that she had just come from a test to see how she was doing, and the result is she is completely healed.
At that news we said a prayer of Thanksgiving, and who wouldn’t, because like St. Peter who prayed for the crippled man, our, and we say our because I am sure many prayed for the woman with colon cancer, our prayer was answered.
Therefore, what I do have I give you: and my most precious gift is:
my TIME.
Which we will spend praying for your healing, and celebrate when you are healed.
Prayer:
If you want to grow in Love, Joy, and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Kindness, and Self-Control.
Sidebar:
One of the biggest problems I, yes I, have in life is just letting God take over.
For example:
Mondays I normally go to Mass. Actually, I go to Mass every weekday, and after Mass write next week’s first draft of our blog.
Jim and I meet every Wednesday, but didn’t over the last five weeks, and Jim said we could meet Monday. Another friend asked if I could bring him and his wife communion on Monday.
No Problem.
On Monday’s I go bowling. Candle pins which is a hoot, and the Sidebar hadn’t even been started. Even worse, I didn’t even have an idea of what we would write about.
No problem, I have plenty of time on Tuesday.
Tuesday, we sat down, and the computer had problems – no internet – which I didn’t find out about until I put my computer into Powerwash and couldn’t restart it.
Normally I could be frazzled, but as we are typing the Sidebar, I am at Peace. For an “A” type personality this is unique, and I am enJoying the change.
I realized that the things I can’t control – I CAN’T CONTROL.
What I can CONTROL is my response to changes that happen every day in life and just go with the flow.
It’s Tuesday 2:53 PM and the Sidebar is completed, and I am filled with Joy, and Peace.
My Father took care of me by giving me the words I would write and live by hopefully, from this point on.

Hi Fred! I love reading your blog! I am an airline pilot and am lucky to attend Mass in different cities. Today, I was in Kansas City, and the other pilot and I went to Noon Mass for the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord. Kind of a mini Easter Vigil in the Lay People entering with candles, use of incense, and the most incredible cantor chanting in Latin… Anyway, I could not believe the miracle I witnessed: From the very beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist until after Mass, when they exposed the Host for Adoration, rays of light emanated from the stained glass window and shone upon the altar the entire time! Fred, had there been no incense, I wouldn’t have seen the rays of light. Cloud cover, different seating position, time of day, angle of the sun all had to be PERFECT!! Picture by Frank from Ohio
As we mentioned we will use Frank’s picture every Wednesday after Easter.
Please keep Snapping!
