The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

Wednesday of the Eighth Week in Extraordinary Time

Beloved:

Realize that you were ransomed from your futile conduct,

handed on by your ancestors,

not with perishable things like silver or gold

but with the precious Blood of Christ

as of a spotless unblemished Lamb.

He was known before the foundation of the world

but revealed in the final time for you,

who through him believe in God

who raised him from the dead and gave him glory,

so that your faith and hope are in God.

Since you have purified yourselves

by obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love,

love one another intensely from a pure heart.

You have been born anew,

not from perishable but from imperishable seed,

through the living and abiding word of God, for:

“All flesh is like grass,

and all its glory like the flower of the field;

the grass withers,

and the flower wilts;

but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

This is the word that has been proclaimed to you.

Emphasis mine:  1 Peter 1:18-25

Quick note for new readers: I know the Catholic Church refers to this time in the church calendar as Ordinary Time.  I believe that since I have the Holy Spirit Infused in my soul at Baptism, this makes this time for me Extraordinary Time.  Joy!!

And

The above paragraph ties in beautifully with what we emphasized.  Realize that you were ransomed from your futile conduct,

For,

Not only are we ransomed BUT we have been given the power to truly make a change in our life, and have the Grace and strength from the Holy Spirit to live an entirely new life.

A life filled with Love, Joy and Peace.

Never forget before Jesus the Jewish race was the only race to know  and worship (?), which was their downfall because they preferred to worship other gods, which proves to me that without The Holy Spirit, we would suffer the same fate.

But,

Because you’re reading our blog you are trying to grow in your relationship with God, and I also believe this is the only God you truly worship.

God is Outrageous and you are Extraordinary.  Because you Realize that you were ransomed from your futile conduct,

Prayer:

If you want to grow in Love, Joy and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.

Sidebar:

This week’s Sidebar is written by you – below are your comments. They were all excellent.

After Jesus has laid down his life for us, He is being thankful for his resurrection and eternal life with his Father. He is giving thanks and praise for God ‘s presence during His agony in the garden and through his crucifixion.  Anonymous

It is through death that eternal life is forthcoming, for Jesus and for us.  Mg

Looking at this beautiful picture, I see Jesus praying for us, his lost sheep  Jen

Acknowledge your crosses without fear, but with trust in Our Father.  Anonymous

After the horror and the pain of death comes the quiet… and the need to trust in the Father for the next step. Anonymous

Even though I am sometimes afraid, Lord help me to pick up my cross daily and follow you knowing that you are always there to carry me when I need you. Jesus gives us hope.  Cath

Perhaps Jesus is praying His next move will change the world forever.  Anonymous

The statue reminds me of myself, when I doubt myself. Am I really doing what the Lord wants from me? Then my faith reassures me that I am.  Pam

I see Jesus contemplating and praying to Our Father and asking forgiveness for all his people who have lost their way! Praise to Our Lord and Savior! 🕊️  Patty

It reminds me of Fred’s prayer “Thank you for the nails you took in your hands and the nail you took in your feet for my salvation.” A prayer I say daily as I kiss our Lord on the cross.  Stephen

Hi Fred. Excellent forum and concept. In the photograph, I see Our Lord and Savior waiting to lay His life down for mankind. He willingly went to the Cross to wait for the crucifixion. For me….Lizzie

You and the Holy Spirit have asked very good question because when my eyes saw that picture, I felt a feeling that cannot be described (i.e. how does someone describe the color orange to a blind person who has never been able to see?).  I will try to put it into words but for now that’s the best I can do.  David

I see a thoughtful praying Jesus! Priscillia

My comment on the picture you posted is that Jesus, before He was nailed to the cross, is praying for us when we go through our trials and suffering that He knew we would on this earth.  Dottie

One is never too busy to stop and smell the roses”; and , always a time and place to reflect in prayerful thoughts for our many special graces and gifts from our loving Lord.  John

Being a glass half full to overflowing type, I see Christ at the exact moment of His resurrection triumphantly rising off the cross for us men and for our salvation!  Frank

Wow, I yes, I never believed we would have so many great thoughts, and no two were the same.  What a wonderful community we have built.  I now realize why we sent out the earlier blog by mistake.

God is Good!!

Picture:

We decided to show this picture for two reasons.  1. The awesome beauty that you can find everywhere.  2.  There are five climbers, (I took the picture) and sadly three have gone home to Jesus.  I am finding saying goodbye to so many in our life to be sad, because I will miss them, and Joyfilled, because I have faith we will meet again.  1958 Picture by Fred Prince

Remember, if you want to submit a picture, please do not include people. We have to get permission from that person to use their photograph.
