Wednesday, December 14, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?

Our blog is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

At that time,

John summoned two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord to ask,

“Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”

When the men came to the Lord, they said,

“John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask,

‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’”

At that time Jesus cured many of their diseases, sufferings, and evil spirits;

he also granted sight to many who were blind.

And Jesus said to them in reply,

“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard:

the blind regain their sight,

the lame walk,

lepers are cleansed,

the deaf hear, the dead are raised,

the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.

And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.” Emphasis mine Today’s reading Luke 7:18B-23

Jesus replied, “Let it be (Jesus’s Baptism) so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.  And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3: 15-17 (Not part of today’s reading)

We are including readings from Matthew and Luke because I have always been puzzled by John The Baptist’s question.

John saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.  And john heard  a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.

How could John ask if Jesus was the one?

One would think that the memory of Jesus’s Baptism by John would last a lifetime and would sustain John whenever John started to disbelieve Jesus was the one.

Luke tells us this is false, and John needed reassurance that Jesus was the one.

Next, I absolutely love the answer Jesus gives in reply.

“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard:

the blind regain their sight,

the lame walk,

lepers are cleansed,

the deaf hear, the dead are raised,

the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.

And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”

Question?

Have you asked from time to time the same question that John asked?

I sadly have, but as I have grown older and made an effort to continue to live in the “Spirit World.” this question is no longer asked.

Why?

As we have reported over the past year, I have experienced healings and God working in my, now, our life.  What I have experienced in many cases can’t be explained any other way.

God is working in my life,

And

I love it!

One great example is the writing of this blog.

Each week we start with a blank computer screen; I pray,” Your words not mine, for your Glory, not mine,” and the words seem to fill the screen, and I have a hard time keeping up with what God wants me to type.

Joy!!

Weeeee are working on Their Blog!

Now I, yes, I celebrate that Jesus is the One, and I have the pleasure of Knowing and Loving a God of Outrageous Love.

“The nine” We pray you will grow in the Love, Joy, and Peace of the Holy Spirit by growing in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.

Sidebar:

Today’s blog is our fifty-third.

The start of our second year writing our blog.

I  can’t believe how fast time has gone by, and weee thank all of you who have written comments and those who have sent pictures.

Our blog, by your participation, has expanded to OUR (Holy Spirit, You and Me) blog, and I couldn’t be happier.

Early on, I think I shared that satan got into my head and said, “You can’t write fifty-plus blogs, and for once, the father of lies, satan, was right.

I couldn’t!

But.

The Holy Spirit said to me, “Weee will write one blog a week and see what happens.”

You know the answer.

Speaking about letting God run your Life, I just finished a book entitled The life of Blessed Margaret Castello 1287 – 1320 by Father William R. Bonniwell O.P.

What a powerful read.  Margaret was Canonized a Saint on October 19, 1609, and if you feel your life is hard, get this book and read it.

All I can say is wow!

Margaret faced all kinds of challenges, and with each challenge, she used that challenge to find an aspect similar to what Jesus went through during His life, imitated Jesus,  and used this knowledge to further deepen her love of Jesus.

Not stated in the book;

Margret was always filled with Love, Joy, and Peace,

Margaret always let God take care of her, and God, her Father, DID!

Margaret thanked God for her difficulties (our words), and God took care of her in

ways you might question, but Margaret never complained and, most importantly,

grew in her Love Of God.

Margaret lived in the “Spirit World.”  Living in the “Spirit World,” for me, was the greatest omission.  We don’t talk enough about the “Spirit World.”  Remember, when you say the Our Father, you pray, “Thy Kingdom come.”

Where?

Here!

When?

Now!

I hope you haven’t forgotten our telling of men in the jail who were filled with Love, Joy, and Peace; their world, the “Spirit World,”  was different than the other prisoners in the jail.

The miracles attributed to Margaret will take your breath away.

The Life of Blessed Margaret Castello 1287 – 1320  is a great book to start your New Year and answer, if an answer is needed, the question, “Are you the one?”

Thank you for the reflection. I can imagine John sitting in that prison thinking and wondering……he might have heard and not seen Jesus’ miracles, so wondered ” is it the same person I baptized” maybe ” why does he not help me get out of prison”

I love the picture, it is refreshing!!!
    Remain blessed

  2. I think perhaps John knew that Jesus was the one, but instead of telling his followers that outright, he sent them to Jesus to find out for themselves.

  3. Love your message! I find myself being pulled more and more into the spirit word. Thank you for your words of wisdom, especially the nine! ❣️

  4. Thanks Fred for reminding us to live in the Spirit world. I like your prayer before you write…and God does not disappoint. He does answer our prayers…indeed our God and Saviour.
