And so the season of Lent begins! While there was a chaos as wed rove for the ash wednesday service, I noticed the church being filled to almost pre covid numbers! People have missed attending mass in person and want to restart their Lenten season with it! While in another part of the globe, there are humans fighting against a pandemic, invasions by military tanks and rockets and the need for basic human needs of housing, food and water!

“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
yet lose or forfeit himself?”

As I pondered over what I want to sacrifice this lent besides meats and sweets, I realised I could not come up with anything. So I shut my eyes and thought and prayed… then made a list for the 46 days of lent with a name before each date! I will offer prayer, fasting or alms / acts of love to the person for that day… may sound a little silly but I know there are so many in need of prayers !

This Lent we have another chance to renew and rekindle our faith with the Lord, shake it up and put forth our hearts, those daily sins which have become habitual and part of our subconscious. It is tough and maybe we wont get over it but we can try!

I have no wise ideas or philosophy on this reading as it is plain and clear to the Lord! all I can repeat are Mother Angelicas words on a Lent 12 years ago, “Time is short, very short .. let us grow in Holiness .. cause one day it wont be ashes on our heads , it will be ashes in the box and you will be it! Have a happy Ash Wednesday and Lenten season

PRAYER

Dearest JEsus, Here I am, full of sin, cleanse me and heal me as I love you and worship you! Bless me with strength through this season to increase my faith for you, that I may enter the eternal life after death!

AMEN
