Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people
longed to see what you see but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

I am those people.

Those people is me!

I long to hear. I want to see. And I will try every day – through apps , prayers, in my hospital or just sitting in my car – praying. I am always occupied or I like to claim to be – to exercise or to cook a healthy meal or worse to pray!

Prayer is our communication with God but often as I grew up I always heard the voice in my head responding back to my own thoughts. While I never understood it even now – the version of self – all I know is I have faith.

When Im happy or sad I long to heart God as I praise and thank God! but alas, I dont make time! Recently we had a conference organised by my department , I ensured I drove to the nearest hair salon before my programme to ensure I was ready before it. I squeezed my last1 hour of the evening after work and ensured I looked half decent.

But with prayer , I dont do that. Last Monday I had some spare time – so I went to church – participated in the mass and my day was made! I could follow the homily and sing along unlike usually when I attend the regional language Eucharistic celebration.

Today let us all make time for our connect with the Lord

Amen

  1. Thank you, Dr. Analise, for taking time out of your busy schedule to write a weekly reflection for ACM. I look forward to it every Thursday, and you always inspire me with comments that I can relate to, and today’s reflection is no exception.

  2. Thank you Dr. Analise. Your reflection is very relatable. I have a lot of noise in my head too!!

  3. Thank you for your reflection. I too, often am busy with other things & don’t make time to pray or give thanks to God. I also find when I start my day off with prayer & thanks my day always is better. I am able to have more patience or at least I am aware of my impatience or short comings & ask God to help me or bless the person who caused me to get angry. I find when I put my trust in Jesus I don’t need to be afraid. May God bless you and your family.

  4. Thank you Analise. We are all busy. Taking time to spend with God in prayer is discipline…discipline to to the right thing even when we have other distractions luring us elsewhere. We appreciate your honesty and recognition of weakness. Strength through prayer and connection with God is easier than we sometimes might think…his burden is light. Peace with you my sister.

  5. We are all so human! When our family was young and I felt guilty about not having time to pray, a wise old friend told me, let your work be your prayer. God bless you and your work.
