Thursday , 18th March 2021 – I am only human…

As I tend to need a reminder it is lenten season, I was gladly reached to by a classmate and an ardent catholic to join a virtual prayer meet and talk. Much needed I must say! While I watched the entire screen of youth who believed in Christ and joined in worshipping him through hymns and prayer, what struck me was the talk delivered about 5 characters in the Bible , that resonated with me the most.

Judas Iscariot being one who stood and walked with the Lord and knew him first hand and yet for the sake of money or greed betrayed his teacher! But the question that struck me was, when the man who was talking asked if Judas had to return to Jesus and ask his forgiveness would he be forgiven? The difference between St Peter who also denied the Lord 3 times , was he returned to the Lord and asked a heartfelt forgiveness, and Jesus made him the first Pope!!! ( what a climatic ending)

So why then wont God forgive you and me mere lesser mortals of our sins when we seek his forgiveness, why do we pride ourselves so much that we refuse to kneel before the priest and ask for pardon for the same sins we commit repeatedly, why then dont we examine ourselves and ponder how we can stop these habits and save our souls from going to hell?

How can you believe, when you accept praise from one another
and do not seek the praise that comes from the only God?

Cause we seek a human solution to all our problems! We hope the other forgives us when we make no effort to reconcile or forgive ! We disrespect and hurt people and relationships assuming we have every right to do so and as humans seek constant humanly validation. I am accountable for the same and realised the entire meaning of an act or word is lost if we base our goals on human rewards however that doesnt imply we just get rid of our human life and seek God alone but make an effort to seek God through our every day trials and issues!

I want to prepare and head for my confession and dump this burden of sinfulness at the feet of my Lord and lead into the holy week with a heart that is light cheerful and desirous of the lords praise…

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, as I am standing here with my sin and shame burdening me with so much stress help me to look not for a human to cling to for peace but look at you for rest! Forgive me Lord and guide me towards a life directed to you!

AMEN.

  2. I love this quote:
If I have grievously offended You, My Redeemer, let me not offend You even more by thinking that You are not kind enough to pardon Me. Amen. –

  3. Thank you Analise. With lockdown, we have neither Confession nor the Eucharist. Your reminder of the value of Confession makes me even more anxious to go once we are able.

  4. “Cause we seek a human solution to all our problems!”

It’s true we need to Believe and let God, which in our humanness it is hard to do unless we are actively listening and letting God direct our path.
    Thank you, for your perspective!

  5. Our GOD is full of mercy for he is alway ready to forgive us our sins only when we confess.

  6. “why do we pride ourselves so much that we refuse to kneel”….. so much truth in this that I had to dig deeper when years ago this became an obstacle until….I stumbled on this….Pride is an untrue opinion of ourselves, an untrue idea of what we are not – self-centeredness was revealed…..until He led me to where an adversity that stripped me of my masks and learned to be selfless. Weekly confession became a spiritual exercise because every confession builds graces…. Love the words… through the Ministry of the Church…… I absolve you from your sins….makes me feel as light as a feather in God’s Hands where the breath of the Holy Spirit takes over.
