Thursday – 10th September Good bye to you my trusted friend!!

good bye to you my trusted friend ..

we have known each other since we were 9 or 10

together we have climbed hills and trees

Learned of Love and ABC’s

Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees

Last week , another angel was given wings up in heaven, my dearest and sweetest childhood friend passed away after a 2 year battle with illness. The epitome of innocence and she had complete faith and surrender in the Lord. Born to a devout catholic family, she was raised with good christian values and education and grew into a fine young lady. When the illness struck and worsened , the family put out a word to seek financial aid for the treatment. We all chipped in our bit, but alas she was destined for something better…. the heavenly abode. May her beautiful pure soul rest in peace. As I contemplated on her short earthly life, I realised God took away another pure soul and I was reminded of my mothers words , ” He takes them to Him cause they are so pure and perfect… and He keeps us back longer on earth to repent for our sins , giving us more chances and time then we think we have. “

Todays gospel reading is a culmination of what each one of us should follow and behave to be followers of Christ.

“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”

A man asked Mother Teresa of Kolkata , ” Mother I want to work and volunteer at your ashram .. I want to do good.” To which Mother replied with a sparkle in her eyes and smile on her face , ” go home my son and begin your work there ” While in the pandemic, I have seen so many pictures , videos of good samaritans and helping strangers and the homeless… alot of us included in this act of showing charity .. we often forget to give the love and the other cheek at our own homes. In a world where being selfish is considered a form of self care and mental health hack. We as Christians need to go out of our way and be beacons of our faith and the Lords way as a way of life and not a gimmick for likes or shares. I am guilty to this very charge. We all look for appreciation for the good we did , a pat on the back, a prize but we often forget the ultimate goal is not even here!! It is awaiting us when we cross the finish line and get across to the heavens!!!

Prayer:

Dear Lord , I ask you guidance every day to live with the trials and tribulations at our families and outside. Help me to practise your teachings everyday and shine forth as your faithful in times of darkness. Help me bring a smile to all I meet today!

Amen.

  4. May God bless your dear friend. Very sorry to hear of this. Today’s Gospel takes us out of our comfort zone (the selfish zone) and requests some difficult things. This is a true Christian test…how many of these requests can I do…how do I behave under the circumstances? Only God knows. Thank you Dr A.

  5. I really believe in your thoughts that God took away a pure soul in your dearest and trusted childhood friend so that she does not get contaminated/corrupted by the world and sinners like me…May God grant us the grace to live out our Christian faith and values without fear or favour!
Thanks a lot,Dr. Analise, for this touching and mind-searching reflection.

  6. Thanks for a wonderful reflection pointing out that today’s gospel is an especially important one. Also condolences.

  7. Dear Analise,
You have put a smile on my face today 🙂
I’m sorry for the earthly loss of your friend but joyful for the heavenly gain.

  8. Your prayer is beautiful and applicable to us all.
As well, it is often the case that we are more kind, forgiving, compassionate, etc., to others than to our own families.

  9. Dr. A,
I got a laugh from the cartoon you have in front of your reflection. Funny, but makes one wonder huh?
I feel for your loss. I lost a great friend (a confidant) from high school days.
We last our daughter to murder 5 years ago tomorrow.
It slays me and my wife to hear people say “Their in a better place, or with Jesus now, they were taken to young, or we know their in heaven now” etc, etc, etc….
Actually, we don’t know any of this. We are taught to pray for their souls. The rest is just “fluff”. People say some crazy stuff. I’m not downing them because I know their intentions are good. It’s more like,
what ever gets that person left behind something nice to say or get them through the day.
Anyway Doc, I’m truly sorry to hear about your loss. I understand the pain.
Eternal rest grant to her our Lord, may Your perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace.

  10. , ” He takes them to Him cause they are so pure and perfect… and He keeps us back longer on earth to repent for our sins , giving us more chances and time then we think we have. “

    Thank you for this
