Monday of the 18th Week of Ordinary Time, Year A

Today’s readings invite us to reflect on the difference between false hope and true hope.

In the first reading, the prophet Hananiah tells the people exactly what they want to hear. He promises that their suffering will soon end and that everything will be restored quickly. But his message is not from God. It is a false promise that gives the people false confidence. Because Hananiah speaks in God’s name without God’s authority, the Lord rebukes him. Truth matters because it leads people to God, while falsehood leads them away from Him.

In the Gospel, we encounter a very different kind of hope. The disciples are caught in a storm, and Jesus comes to them walking on the water. Peter asks to come to Him. As long as Peter keeps his eyes on Jesus, he walks on the water. When he begins to focus on the wind and the waves, fear overwhelms him, and he starts to sink. Yet even then, Jesus immediately reaches out His hand and saves him.

Peter’s experience is often our own. We begin with confidence in the Lord, but when difficulties arise, we focus more on our problems than on Christ. We become anxious, discouraged, or afraid. The good news is that Jesus does not abandon us when our faith is weak. He reaches out to us, just as He reached out to Peter, inviting us to trust Him again.

The Gospel ends with people bringing all the sick to Jesus. They believed that even touching the fringe of His cloak would bring healing, and their faith was rewarded. Their hope was not based on wishful thinking but on confidence in the power and compassion of Jesus.

May we reject every false hope and place our complete trust in the Lord. Even when the storms of life surround us, may we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, knowing that His hand is always stretched out to save us. Have a wonderful Week

  4. I still can’t believe this is real, but I actually won the lottery jackpot! It feels like a dream come true. For years, I would occasionally play without expecting much, just hoping that one day luck would finally be on my side—and it finally happened when I came across a testimony on how Dr Benjamin the great spell caster had helped alot of people win, so I reached out to him, he told me what to do and I followed his instructions, after 48 hours he gave some numbers to play, I did played the numbers as instructed.

The moment I checked my numbers and realized they all matched, my heart started racing. I had to double-check multiple times because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Winning the Powerball jackpot of $107,000,000,00. This has completely changed my life.
