Seasons Change

This Tuesday, September 22nd the official change of season occurred at 8 am in the morning. It was a welcome arrival. In Oklahoma it has been a long hot summer. The temperature cooperated and has been moderately warm in the low eighties this week.

Our first reading from Ecclesiastes is well known because of the singing group , the Byrds song ” Turn, Turn”. Recently, I was speaking to a Protestant friend about Ecclesiastes . The King James Bible numbers this scripture differently but they are the same words.

The part that stuck in my mind was not in the song. He has made everything appropriate to its time, and has put the timeless into their hearts, without man’s ever discovering, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.

This brought to mind so many thoughts. There is a segment on NPR Radio that is called “Story Corp” . It has short interviews of everyday people that describes a portion of their life stories. The stories are sometimes happy, sometimes sad but always compelling. In any story like this I can see the work God has done in their lives.

Now think of the work that God has done in your life. He has helped you in good times and bad. Your story and my story has seasons. We are alive and God has given us today. Our story has hope for today and tomorrow. There is always room for change.

The thing that stuck out from the Gospel was that Jesus had a season in His life. He said, ” The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.” Thank God His story will never change.

We the Faithful on Earth are as the Psalm says, Man is like a breath; his days like a passing shadow. Think today on how God is working in your life. You will have good things and bad things that happen to you, but remember.

God is working in your life!

God Love you Always
