Friday, November 25th in Ordinary Time

Amen, I say to you, this generation will pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my will not pass away.

I love mystery stories. Clues are false or true throughout the readings. The charaofter development changes our perception of who committed the crime. One thing leads to another turn in the story.

Our lives are a mystery story as well. We awake and follow the path the Lord has set for us. We honor our commitments but sometimes we fail.

Sins are the clues of our mystery.

Alcohol abuse leads to another then another. ” Days of Wine and Roses” movie was a dramatic example.

Lies lead to other lies until we never know the truth of what a person says. Saint Paul on the road to Damascus thought he was doing good.

What about the good we do?

Yes, we are all focused on our sinful lives that we confess and try to do better. However, the good we do is a clue to our judgement. We get no glory or notice on this earth for any of it. Nonetheless, there is glory in Heaven when anyone of us follows the will of God on earth.

Revelation says, I saw the dead both the great and the lowly, standing before throne, and the scrolls were opened. Then another scroll was opened, the book of life. The dead were, judged according to their deeds, by what was written in the scrolls.

If you are reading this, rest assured that all that was written isn’t all bad. There are many clues in our mystery book. We need to do good whenever we can and repent when we don’t. That is the major clue in our story. Staying in the state of grace is not easy. We are all sinners.

So as this liturgical year comes to a close, I continue to pray for family and others who are not producing good clues. I try to do good and repent when I sin. The major clue is that every day we who are alive have the opportunity to produce a good clue or a bad one.

God Love You Always

  1. Thank you Bob. Very nice reflection. We should heed John’s vision as someday the scroll will have our names. Peace and Happy Thanksgiving my brother.

  2. If only the clues were more obvious, our lives wouldn’t be such a mystery. One never knows what’s in store for us on our path to eternal happiness. Believing God is at the helm is the greatest clue! ❣️🙏🏼

  3. Thank you Bob for your reflection. When my boys were small I would instruct them, “Do good and you get good, do bad and you get bad.” Looking back probably not so black and white. But God is good and open hearts recieve Him and trust Him and as you say Bob, we can repent and in His Mercy every day or every second He allows us to start over. Psalm 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction that Your promise gives me life.

  4. The Lord gave me a look in the Book of Life last night as I slept. We will Praise God continually in the New Heaven! Thanks Bob, in a nutshell we need to do good whenever we can and repent when we don’t…. All Praise to OUR Savior JESUS!
