Friday, July 3rd, Saint Thomas, Apostle

All grow into one holy temple in the Lord; and you too, in him, are being built into a house where God lives, in the Spirit.

Doubt no longer but believe.’ Thomas replied, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Jesus said to him:

Saint Thomas { aka Saint Didymus } is descriptive of an attitude that is in each of us. All of us doubt. Even saints like Thomas doubted. So don’t beat yourself up too much if at times you doubt. Most of us get these thoughts and we work through them. Our faith takes over. The times the Lords has performed miracles in my life would be proof enough for me, but He also did those things in your life. The trouble is we forget. Our memories are selective.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen said “Christianity is not a system of ethics; it is a life. It is not good advice; it is divine adoption. Being a Christian does not consist in just being kind to the poor, going to church, singing hymns or serving on parish committees, though it includes all of these. It is first and foremost a love relationship with Jesus Christ. “

If we have that relationship we doubt like Saint Thomas, but we work through it, because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. John20:29 Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” Funny, the readings dropped off before the answer. If you go on reading the Gospel it says. John 20:30-31 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of [his] disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may [come to] believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

Remove all doubt in your lives. Jesus is Lord!

We receive the sacraments on a regular basis, and daily prayer and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass if we can. This starts our relationship with Jesus. One day you will doubt again, but that relationship will smooth over those bumps in the road.

God Love You Always
