Friday July 30, 17th Week in Ordinary Time

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

These are the festival of the Lord which you shall celebrate at their proper time with a sacred assembly.

Do you ever take someone for granted?

Has your worship become routine?

Have I taken the Holy Eucharist for granted?

Praying over the readings today gave me cause to examine my relationship to the routine of my life and my relationship to Jesus. The regimentation of the festivals in Leviticus took me by surprise.

We often see posts on Facebook about saying hello to someone while they are still alive and not wishing for contact with them after their death.

One of my sons and and daughter had a falling out a number of years ago and they had not spoken until recently. It was a small step but I am glad my children took the step. It made my wife and I very happy. Life is too short for petty quarrels. We are family.

Human relations are one thing, but I question sometimes whether I do the same thing at Mass or saying the Rosary. Do I go through the motions or am I really there in the moment in my relationship to Jesus?

In today’s Gospel from Matthew, A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house. The nagging question I asked myself is this. Do I live in the moment or does the mechanics of receiving the Eucharist and letting the cares of the day drift into that moment with Christ. Jesus was taken for granted by the people of Nazareth. Myself, I had to admit I was sometimes guilty of that also at various times in my life.

My prayer is that none of use fail to take for granted the Miracle of Christ is the Eucharist. And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith. I don’t want any of us to miss a miracle in our lives because we took Jesus for granted.

Is my lack of faith hindering my relationship to Christ?

If your Church does not have adoration today. Please look at the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the picture above…………. Stay in the moment and let the Lord increase your faith and work miracles in your life.

Don’t miss that moment!

God Love you Always

I’ve heard stories from several generations ago that the Eucharist was not available every day as it is now. I’ve heard stories of how men would go to confession once a year just before Easter and really tried their hardest not to sin in between.
Point being perhaps absence does make the heart grow fonder from time to time. Perhaps if your mind is not where it ought to be you should forgo receiving Holy Communion and give you something to think about.

  6. Bob – such a powerful reminder at the Holy Hour/s of Adoration which should not be taken for granted especially at Our Divine Master’s Holy Eucharist
