Project 365 #338: 041209 Hardly Boxing Clever

For in fact we have received the Good News just as our ancestors did. But the word that they heard did not profit them, for they were not united in faith with those that listened.

Humans are very innovative people. They think outside the box to solve problems. My wife, Anna, is not an early morning person. She is not at her best when she wakes up without coffee. So the solution is that I usually get up early and grind the beans and start the day’s coffee regimen. The family joke is that Hebrews really means “He brews”.

Today our first reading is from Hebrews and the author is unknown but written in the style of Saint Paul. The author speaks of the faith of God’s people. He makes an important point about faith. He says that they did not succeed because they were not united in faith.

Jesus speaks to faith in our Gospel today from St Mark. He saw their faith . Jesus saw four men and a paralytic with faith that could have moved mountains. They thought “outside the box” and I’m sure they were motivated by the Holy Spirit. If a wall or a crowd blocked their way, then they went through the roof. These people were united in faith.

Jesus also worked ” outside the box” because He, first, forgave their sins. To prove it he cured the paralytic. This Gospel shows what the faith of all of us and Jesus together can work miracles. Jesus is showing us that loving one another and the combination of faith by a brother and sister in Christ with Jesus can work miracles for the sick and can forgive our sins. Some people’s faith may not be as strong as yours but together they join forces and Jesus sees the beauty of that union.

Is their nothing this Lord and Savior can not do?

In loving one another the faith of all is increased. Jesus is the great healer. However, what caused Him to act? The faith of the group impress Jesus.

My prayer today is to impress Jesus again in union with the faith of the Church Militant to request forgiveness of our sins and love for one another in faith.

We have many trials today both medically and politically. However, united in faith and listening to the words Jesus will lead to healing. We have a Great Healer, Jesus Christ. Join your faith with others today to prove that we are listening.

God Bless You Always
