Scenes from the Life of St. John the Baptist
To give light to those who live in darknesss and shadow of death and to guide our feet in the way of peace

In the Northern Hemisphere we just celebrated the shortest day of the year and to my friends in the Southern Hemisphere they just celebrated the longest. We as Catholics have just completed celebrating the Holy Season of Advent and all are celebrating the Birth of Our Lord tonight. We are done with preparations. It is time to celebrate. Darkness is no more and the Light of the world will come tonight.

Zechariah’s vision spoke of the way of peace that we have come to enjoy. If we focus on the world there is no peace to be found, but if we focus on Jesus then we will have peace.

Jesus speaks throughout the Gospels of a War with the forces of evil. Yes that is the reality but tonight there is respite. Tonight we have Peace. Tonight we will take a break from the world and enjoy the prophecy of Zechariah. Zechariah’s son, John the Baptist, preached forgiveness of sins , the mercy of God and light to the world when John prepared the way of the Lord.

Yes, tomorrow there will be news of viruses spreading and political strife, but tonight we have Peace. Tonight we are focused on the Christ and a baby about to be born who is the Savior of the world.

So a month from now remember the peace we have experience tonight, then focus on the Christ child and the Light of Christ who will come into the world tonight. He is our beacon and when we focus on Him we will have Peace. The problems are for another time. Enjoy Peace!

Merry Christmas!

God Love You Always

  5. Bob – Yes, only the Prince of Peace, can give us true, lasting “inner peace” –
So, this and every Christmas, we CAN Rejoice in the Lord always, again,
I say REJOICE ! – for God IS with us , and goes before us always, in
Jesus Christ our “newborn,” living Lord.
