ALL SOULS DAY: November 2, 2026
Theme: “The Lord Is My Shepherd” (Psalm 23)
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today, as we celebrate All Souls’ Day, the Church invites us to remember and pray for all the faithful departed, especially our family members, relatives, friends, and all those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
Death is never easy. When someone we love dies, we experience sadness, emptiness, and sometimes questions that are difficult to answer. We remember their faces, their voices, their kindness, and the moments we shared with them. Even when many years have passed, the memory of those we love remains in our hearts.
Yet, as Christians, we do not gather today simply to remember those who have died. We gather in faith, prayer, and hope, trusting in the mercy of God.
Our responsorial Psalm gives us a beautiful message of consolation:
“The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.”
This Psalm reminds us that God is with us throughout our earthly journey, even in the face of death.
The Lord Is Our Shepherd, Even in the Valley of Death
A shepherd guides, protects, and cares for his sheep. He does not abandon them when the road becomes difficult.
Psalm 23 tells us:
“Even though I walk in the dark valley, I fear no evil; for you are at my side.”
The dark valley reminds us of the reality of death and the sorrow we experience when we lose someone dear to us.
But notice what the Psalm says: God does not promise that we will never walk through difficult moments. Rather, He promises that He will walk with us.
Jesus is our Good Shepherd. He knows each of us by name. He knows our struggles, our fears, and our hopes. And His love does not end at the grave.
Today, we entrust our departed brothers and sisters to the care of this Good Shepherd, trusting that His mercy is greater than our human understanding
Have a blessed Week
