What does a man gain for the efforts that he makes? I contemplate the task that God gives mankind to labor at. All that he does is apt for its time; but though he has permitted man to consider time in its wholeness, man cannot comprehend the work of God from beginning to end.
I don’t know about yours, but my calendar of events is full. Sunday of course is Church, but during the week, there is my part-time job, medical tests, doctor visits, church organizations, volunteer projects and housework. My life is busy and fulfilling and so is yours. We all have plans for today. They may change from time to time, but we need both short term and long-term direction for our lives. When we say the Our Father and come to the words, ” give us this day”, we can comprehend that, but the long-term is harder to grasp.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. It is hard to see God’s plan in anything, but we have to trust that that plan is for good. Life does not produce the Hope we are looking. We see wars, death, sickness and poverty in the world. Look at the movie “Roots” and the fictional character “Chicken George”. He was not the most moral person but was a survivor. Jesus is both moral and a survivor. Follow Jesus!
This last week I had some computer problems. I apologize for any inconvenience it caused. I wanted to talk about the Saint of the Day which was Saint Joseph Cupertino. He reported to have ecstasy and experience levitation due to his devotion to the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
ln both days God’s plan is hard for us to imagine but it is there. I believe in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I believe in God’s influence in my life for good, but it is hard to see it in logical terms. That’s why we Hope and have Faith that it is true.
‘The Son of Man’ he said ‘is destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death, and to be raised up on the third day.’ In order to understand God’s time we have to focus on the Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. There is no time there. There is only the Presence of God.

Pray for justice for all victims of human trafficking and immigrants! Pray for justice for our President and all government officials! Pray for Peace!
