The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.
Wednesday of the Tenth Week in Extraordinary Time
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.
I bless the Lord, who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I keep the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
my body also rests secure.
For you do not give me up to Sheol
or let your faithful one see the Pit.
You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Emphasis mine Psalm 16 5-11 NRSVUE (New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition)
Today we are once again doing something different.
I bought and downloaded the NRSV Catholic Edition Bible, because the Holy Spirit suggested we change from the New American Bible, which we had read for three or four years, to get a different take on some of the readings.
Psalm 16 is a great example, (and this is today’s Psalm, but parts were left out, so we decided to print why we now pray this part of Psalm 16 everyday). I had read this Psalm many times and just moved on. Last year I read Psalm 16 in the NRSV Catholic Edition, and the Holy Spirit suggested I read this Psalm every day, and now we are trying to memorize verses 5- 11, which we printed above.
Why?
Because it spoke directly to me.
Go back and reread the Psalm. I noticed that every line spoke to me. The last two lines really leaped out at me.
You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of JOY;( our Caps)
in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
And,
Ask yourself the question: don’t you want a life filled with the fullness of Joy, with pleasures forever more?
At age eighty-five I have found I am not praying less, but more, and this helps me keep the Lord always before me, and this is exactly what both of us want.
Life is easy!
Prayer:
If you want to grow in Love, Joy and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.
Sidebar:
Every year we reread all of our blogs.
I remember clearly about the third week in our endeavor satan said I, yes I, couldn’t write fifty-two blogs.
Guess what?
satan was right, I couldn’t. But WE can, and WE have.
This makes over two hundred blogs written since OUR start on December 15, 2022.
But,
What we really wanted to write about was on December 13, 2023 (which I reread two days ago) when I wrote about my Prostate Operation, and how the Doctor, three months after the operation, told me I had Prostate Cancer, but the Prostate Cancer was fully removed because of the operation.
I didn’t know I had Prostate Cancer.
I didn’t pray for THAT healing,
And yet, God healed me anyway.
The really sad part of this story is I forgot about this healing, and I am really upset with myself for forgetting.
A further thought we had; this is another great reason why we want to pray for a healing so when the healing occurs you will know it happened, and THANK YOUR FATHER for the healing, which I didn’t do, but now will! And continue to do so.
Bill Cook brought me into the Prison Ministry, and he died of Prostate Cancer, so I fully realize this can be a very dangerous cancer.
Question: How many healing have you had which you didn’t thank your Father for?

I (like many) think orchids are beautiful. In addition to the flower, I see a bird element in all of these. God sure does have the most fascinating ways of entertaining us and making us aware of His majesty. At least to those who have eyes to see. Picture by Jerry Torres
