He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd.
so that they would not crush him.
Celebrity culture is the new norm. While random humans are making some content, either through mimicry or jokes or just even posing in sponsored outfits and equipment—we consume that as content and follow them.
I finally completed all rounds of my final exams on Friday and heaved a sigh of relief! I thank everyone of you who prayed for me. It was an ordeal, and my body was having aftereffects of the anxiety for the next 48 hours, which I slept off, and I met with people I love, met Christ, and calmed my nervous system. Still, I wake up thinking I skipped a paper!! haha
So I finally logged onto social media for work purposes and realized what a different side of the world is being kept on display—where the celebrity isn’t the Lord but every human for doing the tiniest activity!!!
A lot of our mind thinks, “How on earth is everyone doing everything?” and then I turn and look at my patients, and they are awesome! slowly waking towards life—wondering why there is no one helping them. The celebrities are those warriors who put their faith into the Almighty and surrender their lives!
The first-ever celebrity in the New Testament to me will always be John the Baptist with his hippie demeanor and cult following and the fact that he always showed and paved the path for Jesus and never hogged the limelight alone. Then walked in Jesus—the Lord. After watching the chosen series, it has made it a lot easier to imagine the life of Jesus with his followers and apostles.
Many times we have patients who catch us off guard outside work and remind us who they are and how we played a role in their lives—I am sure you all have that one doctor you love and one you don’t! So I often get terrified if I am going to be that latter doctor to someone—Jesus, on the other hand, the OG healer, was untouchable, but He too was uncomfortable with the attention and the paparazziness of the crowd!
We often worship our heroes, not realizing they are only human. I always smile when I see some famous celebrity being hounded at an airport—and think, “If someone is sick, they will call the doctor (me),” so I walk with my chin up for the rest of the day! I know Jesus is the ultimate healer, and when everything goes south, we go running back, trying to smother and crush him with our prayers and worries! SIGH!
But His mercy is endless and is ever ready, not just for selfies for the momentary needs we have but to be there to watch us stay with Him through this year every single day.
I hope the new year will treat us all better with good health and happiness as I navigate myself through it and you read all my reflections as I hope to build more on my relationship with God
AMEN\
I will be travelling to Copenhagen, Denmark for a short trip next month. If anyone has any suggestions about Churches there do let me know!
