Thoughtful piece. It’s a good reminder that the images and ideals we choose to uphold shape how we see ourselves and others. Thanks for encouraging reflection on what truly matters.

2 Kings 24: 14 Says only the poor were left in Israel and not sent to Babylon. Only the rich and noble were exiled and not the the poor who stayed on the land.

I always thought that everyone was exiled. Funny how you miss things the first or second time you read them and then they pop out at you with intense meaning. The poor were the inheritors and not the rich until they became poor again and through the grace of God came back to the promised land.

There was an interesting show on 20/20 this Friday. Pope Francis came to America via a TV interview. It was wonderful. I can not believe public television had it on air. The important thing was that he used media to come to the parts of America that he was not scheduled to stop on his upcoming tour of America. He came to the homeless, the poor and the immigrant. He did not come to the powerful or famous.

We truly have a humble Pope. He asked that we pray for him as he is praying for us. The people he interviewed had courage and deep faith. The people in the audience were not all Catholic because I saw a Salvation Army officer in the audience and I am sure he was not addressing just Catholics, because he was talking to all people of faith. I not sure how he said that but I picked up on it.

In reflecting on the Gospel message of today. Humility is the what I am praying for. It is not just about me.
