Hey Steven,

"The Reason We Marry".

Nice title, but I'm not so sure your of your explanation.

St Augustine said, "Our heart is restless, until it rest in you." In other words, one will continue to try to find things and ways to satisfy their needs and desires, but they will ultimately fail. Leaving one wanting more, that is until one centers their life on God. It's like a puzzle with a piece missing and that piece is God.

Take that analogy and apply it to marriage. Something is missing in your life. You do not feel whole. And when, in front of God, you acknowledge that you have found your complementing piece, a miracle happens, "...they are no longer two, but one flesh."

Thank you Steven. It makes marriage so much more enriching and rewarding when the end-goal is heaven for both of us. At one time, we both thought the worldly definition of marriage was all there was. How I longed for something more...which ultimately led to my conversion back to the Church and then over time, his too. It's been a hard but beautiful road so far. Thanks for all the insight from A Catholic Moment. It has helped me so much.

Thank you, Steve. I was confused by the first reading but your reflection helped me to better understand its message. My husband is doing a great job in his task of getting me to heaven. He is my spiritual guide and role model. I pray that he and I together can also ensure our sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren also make it to heaven.

Beautiful analogy and so true. Whatever our situation, our goal is to make our way to heaven by doing God’s will and sharing God’s love. We need to stay focused on His purpose for us and share in His goodness.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the marriage reflection. I never thought about having to get my wife to heaven. She seems to be well on her way putting up with me and doing a wonderful job raising our children always sacrificing something for someone else. I couldn't imagine being without her here or there. I better make sure we make it together. God Bless Steven
