Our Blog is Inspired by The Holy Spirit

Memorial of Saint Josaphat, Bishop and Martyr

In all circumstances, give thanks,

for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

Emphasis mine Allulia Refrain 1 Thessalonians 5:18

These past few weeks we have had the theme of always giving praise and thanksgiving.  Something that is very rare in our society today.

We were doing a Communion Service at the V/A last Sunday, and the Psalm reading was the 23rd Psalm.  The Lord is my shepherd.

We mentioned to the people in attendance that we pray this Psalm every day.  The interesting thing for me is the ending, which The Holy Spirit brought to mind for our homily.

The Version I learned was  “I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

The Psalm that was read at our communion service said “and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD

 for years to come.

The NABRE the Bible that is used at Mass, or so I thought said, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord

    for endless days.

I will not change from saying forever!

Why?

As we explained, to live in the house of the Lord now requires me to live in the love, Joy, and Peace of the Holy Spirit.

Sooooooooo how can you claim to be in Heaven now, by growing in the Love, Joy, and Peace of The Holy Spirit?

Answer, where else am I?  In my younger years I experienced anger, hate, envy, pride, and only a fool wouldn’t realize these come from satan.

But

Living in Love, Joy, and Peace, separates me from everyone else who isn’t in the house of the Lord.

And

When I die, I go from the house of the Lord to the house of the Lord, and that is forever,

But

Forever started today, not when I died.

Beautiful isn’t it.

In Luke 10:9 Jesus says’The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’

And

Jesus demonstrated this by throwing out demons, and healing the sick, which we have also reported is happening today.

So,

Since we have the option to choose to live in the Kingdom of God, and we know this by our Love, Joy, and Peace we should In all circumstances, give thanks,

Prayer:

If you want to grow in Love, Joy and Peace, this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.

Sidebar:

I thought what we wrote above would be the Sidebar.

Wrong, which is why I enJoy this ministry so much.

Thursday we were at the jail, and a Muslim man spoke up.

The Muslim stated that the only reason he was coming to Bible Study was to hear me, and he thought being a Muslim that he was in the right religion.

We asked him to consider:

Allah is a single god, and as I learned in the book No God but One Allah or Jesus by Qureshi Nabeel, a young man studying to be an Imam until he found Jesus, and then he wrote this book comparing the two religions.

Nabeel wrote that Allah is a single god who needs the love of his followers  and they have to obey the law to get to heaven.  We believe God is a Triune God, with The Holy Spirit being a real game changer, because The Holy Spirit IS Love, and has entered our souls when we were baptized.

We didn’t say this but maybe the Holy Spirit will get me to ask him another question. That being, the Muslims believe they get to heaven by their  good works,  how many good works must they do to offset their sins?

Christians believe our sins were nailed to the Cross of Jesus, and we are going to heaven because we have been justified through the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus.

We didn’t say this but I pray we will.  “Maybe you’re coming to Bible Study because The Holy Spirit wants to present a different option to you that will change your life, that option being Love, Joy, and Peace, which if you pray it every day really does change your life, as many of you have found out.

And

Then In all circumstances, give thanks,

This is the  first time in four years we have had the quote of the week in the main part of the blog, and the sidebar.

  1. Good morning Fred, Thank you for your thoughts and observations of people in your interesting life. I also am glad you let us know what you are reading! I will check that book out. It’s always good to understand what other religions are about. Have a wonderful day. And so thankful for your service to our country.

  2. From my understanding, Muslims believe Jesus was only a prophet. They do not believe Jesus was crucified.

  3. Fred,
Thank you for the reflection. And thank you for your service to our country. I hope you had a good Veterans Day. As I start off most days by going to USCCB.org for the readings, I was hoping that you would reflect on the first reading. Which is a challenge to us, especially at this point in our nation’s history.
But, since you focused on gratitude, I’ll share something that I read recently. (Is it from one of your blogs?) Thanksgiving is not a day, it’s a lifestyle.
    Peace. ✌️

  4. Jerry, Thank you for the complement of remembering what we said a year ago, I’m blown away. Please always remember I only type what the Holy Spirit wants to have typed. Peace Fred

  5. Oeuf, you’re right BUT Profits don’t die, and that’s their problem,1. how do you explain the Cross,. and 2 if you accept the Cross, how do you explain how Jesus didn’t die. Google How do the Muslims explain how Jesus didn’t die? I for one was shocked when I found out that the Muslims didn’t believe Jesus died on the Cross. Peace Fred
