Century upon century.” You make it sound as if black people are still living in the times of slavery or fighting for civil rights. The police officers in Minneapolis were clearly wrong and killed a man, but the notion that this happens every day is wrong. The FBI’s and even The Washington Post’s own data on police shootings of black people do not support that.

On the contrary, what you are stating is imagined. Please don’t speak for all black people.

Joe, looks like you kicked a hornet’s nest here. All I’ll say is there is a big difference between protesting and rioting. There are larger forces at work here that has nothing to do with that needless murder in Minneapolis.

Thanks Joe for trying to put yourself in the shoes of what black people feel.Iam black and I can tell you for a fact .That in the heart of every black man or woman there is a harboured haterade for white people..for real or imagined historical injustices they subjected them to .the primary one being slavery,then racial discrimination and..a general feeling that the whites robbed and have continued to rob the African continent of minerals,labour force,etc for their benefits..for sure a spark was small enough to ignite the fire.In my history classes I remember my teacher not so positive about Christianity..he would always say” The cross preceded the flag” to mean Christianity was first introduced then colonization followed..I remember him critical of the gospel of turning the other cheek,humility etc..and saying these were used to soften blacks before they were colonized…So, we as Christians we need to pray so that the spirit of God comes down to help us heal and love one another…In the Bible..Man was only given dominion over the earth and what is I it..but not Dominion over another / fellow human being..because man was created in the image of God regardless over who or how he is…May the Spirit of God come down

Thank you, Joe and all the writers at CM, all doing a great job. I have been following your website for about 5 years now. But I feel I have to respond to some of your readers comments. I am in NO way in support for all the violence that is going on. But I read something recently. Some say “It’s horrible that an innocent black man was killed, but destroying property has to stop.” Try saying “It’s horrible that property is being destroyed but killing black men has to stop.” Just saying. Agree totaly with anonymous, what kind of maniac writes that my dad, daughter, son or wife has to go out there and be a punching bag for society because their mad. What says a families income has to burn to the ground for a statement. These aren’t anymore innocent people than the victim in Minneapolis that are getting their lives ruined. Maybe you need to read your bible again and show me where Jesus preached to the apostles “After they crucify me burn Jerusalem to the ground and kill the centurions so we can get our point across”.
