Yes, at different stages of our lives, our spiritual soil can be shallow, rocky, weedy or rich. I would hope we all strive for rich soil. But even rich soil can be degraded over time. So, I believe your point about cultivating and caring for the soil is important. What can I do to keep my soil rich? You make some strong suggestions. Like inviting the Holy Spirit into every moment of our lives, praying the nine and psalms. Reconciliation, rosaries, receiving communion as often as possible, good deeds done for others, etc. are all good nutrients for the rich soil.
An aside: I make frequent visits to the blessed sacrament at our church, There has always been an open bible on a stand next to our tabernacle. A few months ago, I was moved to see what reading the bible was turned to and found… Psalm 91.
