My maiden name’s Elias & formerly the Bible used it instead of Elijah (as used now). Apart from the wonderful feeling of having & carrying it in your name – as a child when everyone who knew you used to look at you or nudge you – it was exquisite!!! Now if I have to advise, write a letter or offer a lengthy comment – it is mentioned “as Prophet Elias’s epistle to ……”!! Yes it is an awesome feeling & I wonder at times does it mean that I have a bigger role to play in my life?…..

Although I’m not sure of the actual reason the Church celebrates the feast of St Stephen today, St Fulgentius sure saw a connection between Christ and St Stephen.

From a sermon by St Fulgentius:

“…so, the love that brought Christ from heaven to earth raised Stephen from earth to heaven.”

I told them they have to hold Jesus in their hearts. Even if they’re not with me, when the priest raises the Host and the chimes ring, I smile. And I hold my hands over my heart!
