Memorial of Saint Bernard, Abbot and Doctor of the Church

Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

O LORD, in your strength the king is glad;

in your victory how greatly he rejoices!

You have granted him his heart’s desire;

you refused not the wish of his lips.

R. Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

For you welcomed him with goodly blessings,

you placed on his head a crown of pure gold.

He asked life of you: you gave him

length of days forever and ever.

R. Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

Great is his glory in your victory;

majesty and splendor you conferred upon him.

You made him a blessing forever,

you gladdened him with the joy of your face.

R. Lord, in your strength the king is glad.

Emphasis mine  Psalm 21:2-3, 4-5, 6-7

He asked life of you: you gave him

length of days forever and ever.

I was drawn to these words because I, yes I, believe they demonstrate again the OUTRAGEOUS love of the Triune God has for us.

I also believe most of us don’t ask enough or we limit God by what we are asking for, is not great enough.

Once you fully believe as I do now, and it has taken eight-four years, that God your Father is eager to be a part of your life, and give you a life you didn’t believe was possible, then your life takes a dramatic change.

Three weeks ago and last Sunday we recruited three (a husband and wife team, and one man who indicated he may ask his wife to join him) to do a communion service at the V.A.  The obligation they were signing into was one Sunday a month.

We also gave them a basic Communion Service with the prayers they were to say, including also the readings of that Sunday, and then they were free to say what they wanted.

We asked them all to let the Holy Spirit take over when they gave the Homily.  Both of these people are type A Personalities and we knew this would be a stretch.

They all came out of their Communion Service filled with Joy, and couldn’t wait until their next time around came.

The couple that did last Sunday’s Communion Service, told me that he did jot a few bullet points on a piece of paper, but the Homily flowed as he could not believe.  At the end of the service a woman came up to him and said she had a feeling she should come and he spoke to her.

I reminded him that if he had written out the full homily he probably would not have met her needs.

He said he hadn’t thought about that.

He might have thought he could write and read a strong homily, BUT he would have no idea of what God wanted to accomplish threw him, for someone else, at that moment.

This is also true with our prayer life.  We ask for a long life on earth and reject the Eternal life that is offered here and now.

If you are living in the Love, Joy, and Peace of the Holy Spirit you are living in the Kingdom Jesus created when He Died on the Cross and then rose again.

He asked life of you: you gave him

length of days forever and ever.

In short Eternal life doesn’t start when we die, it starts NOW, but we have to be willing to surrender our needs and desires for what God wants us to do just as the two Eucharist Ministers had to do when they presided over the Communion Servicer, and both left the service filled with JOY because they let The Holy Spirit take control..

Joy tells you that you’re with Them, and that is the beginning of Eternal life.

Prayer:

If you want to grow in Love, Joy, and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control.

Sidebar:

At the last Communion Service at the V/A that we held, The Holy Spirit told me to talk before the service about something that wasn’t in that day’s readings, and we spoke about The Our Father.

The Holy Spirit has gotten me to think a lot about what we said since then and one word jumps out at me.  Before I give the word though we want to write the Lord’s Prayer by St. Luke,.

Father, hallowed be your name,

    your kingdom come.

Give us each day our daily bread[d]

    and forgive us our sins

for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,

and do not subject us to the final test.” Lk 11:2-4

If we only prayed St. Luke’s version of The Lord’s Prayer we miss a VERY important word and that word is OUR.

The way St. Luke writes Father I as a person in the pews would take this to mean Jesus was only talking to and about His Father.

OUR tells us that God the Father is Our Father also and we are asked into a close relationship with God OUR Father, Son ( Brother) and The Holy Spirit.

Only the Christian religion offers this close relationship.  OUR is the one word that in my simple mind changes everything.

Fr. Richard Rohr once wrote that we are invited into a Celestial Dance with the Triune God, and I now fully believe we are.

And,

If you are invited into a dance don’t hang back, get into the dance, and be filled with the Love, Joy and Peace of being in a dance with Them.

Throw out satan who wants you to concentrate on things that may be happening in your life that are not God driven, for example:  what should I say, how do I dress, my knee hurts or maybe you have a serious disease, maybe it’s a very serious disease,

So what!

Have Faith that your Father, Brother, and The Holy Spirit will take care of you, and once you fully realize this as I did when I went into the hospital, I realized I COULDN’T LOSE.

If I died I was going Home to Our Father, Brother and The Holy Spirit, where is the loss there?

If I lived I was coming home to Gail and the Boys and their families and where is the loss there?

In short, for the first time in my, no, I should say our life, I was in a no lose position, and I WAS FILLED WITH JOY.

This is how powerful letting God take over is.  I was going for a two hour operation and I was filled with Joy!

Three people experienced this over the past three weeks.  This past week was a husband and wife team, and after talking with them I had the feeling their marriage was even stronger after their Communion Service at the V/A

And

Because they let God take over.

How about You?

Are you still trying to run your life, and let God in when They are only needed?

That’s not a Relationship!

OUR Father wants to be with you twenty-four seven, because you were known before the Creation of the world, and you’re here for a reason.

Enjoy your relationship and grow in The Love, Joy, and Peace of The Holy Spirit, and experience Heaven here and now

We had a number of comments on the Plaque with the Fruit of The Holy Spirit, and Jackie, wrote in her comment, that said she found one on ebay which I also found for $65. I typed in The Fruit of The Holy Spirit scrolled down about six or seven items and there it was.
