What you speak of in the first part of your reflection and through out. Myself, I call this a deceptive form of self righteousness and it will creep in on you like a wild weed growing. It is also with in the catholic church we are not immune from it yet we do have safeguards. For myself, I pray daily against it because if you let it, it will grow in on you very fast and before long we are led astray thinking we’re doing Gods work while we’re off somewhere else, not knowing how we ever got off the path. Definitely food for thought. And yes, why point out and attempt to remove the thorn in my brothers eye when I can not even perceive to see the wooden beam stuck in my own eye.
