Although I do like your reflection today, I think something is missing.

Fear.

When you stand back and look at the reason why Jesus fed the crowd He feared for their wellbeing. And maybe it’s a bit of a stretch, but one might say at the Wedding at Cana Jesus turned water into wine out of the fear of embarrassment for the bridegroom.

I guess my point is sometimes God does miracles not for the conversion of the unfaithful or to show us His might. Sometimes He seems to do them because He actually cares about us.

I’ve been intrigued how fasting and prayer are interlinked, just as eating in fellowship with others and being satisfied are interlinked. It’s beautiful how Jesus sets such a great example in all things ‘human.’ I’ve made it my habit to wait until I read the readings before I start my breakfast, without really knowing how the connection works with fasting and prayer. It’s definitely improved my mornings with God. Thank you for your wonderful words.
