Hey Steven,

Yes, I see your point, in a nut shell, nothing ventured, nothing gained. But when I read both Gospels concerning this topic, I hit a snag with that logic. In both readings the Master tells the third servant that he should have at least put the money in the bank instead of holding on to it. In other words, the third servant wasn't asked to do the impossible, just to do the minimum. The minimum is something all of us should do because built into our conscience, it's instinctual.

What is it? Check out this Sunday's Gospel. It's that simple.

Which is all you have to do to become a disciple of Jesus.

Well, that and learn how to change a tire.

Mark

PS Today's reading from 2 Mc 7:1, 20-31 is probably one of the most heartfelt emotional readings in the Bible. The mother's words should be read by all, regardless of religion.

Thank you, Steven! The Holy Spirit just spoke to me through your words. My husband and I decided to do something that (I know!) is God's will for us. I have been praying about it. I know we will have to deal with hurtful comments from friends and family members. They will judge. They will not agree with our decision. But that's okay. We are doing what seems impossible because the Lord is with us. God bless!

Excellent reflection. It gives me a lot to reflect on in my own life. Since my wife died 2 years ago God has called me to reflect that light of his love in new ways. I have fought many of them, but he is very persistent and patient. I guess the obstacle for me has been a lack of confidence and knowledge in myself. But every time I have branched out, I have always wanted more afterward. It is answering Jesus' call from the cross,"I thirst". God Bless

Such great insight, Steven! Thank you for your reflection. It has got me thinking about delving into some new ideas that the Holy Spirit has placed on my heart! I always remind my kids when they are hesitant about new situations that "You never know until you try." Indecision is a decision already to hesitate and not to act. God bless you and all of the readers today and always :)
