Our rural parish only has confession on Saturdays, not in our church, but in a different town. That makes it difficult. I got used to the urban church convenience of confession before Mass.

Joe, I just had the same situation with confession running into Mass here at our church. Reading your reflection made me ask Fr. Hilary after Mass to go back in and give me the opportunity for the only second chance that matters.

Joe, your words hit me at a time when I am sorely stressed on many things, and haven’t been to church or confession for 11 years. I completely DISAGREE with the Catholic Church on a major social issue; and I refuse to put one dollar into their hands for illegal use and for lying to parishioners about where that money goes. I want to solve my stance and return to Mass and the sacraments; so this essay from you has touched my heart. I thank you greatly for reminding me of all that is good in the church; while some of our leaders are not.

Joe, your words today are exactly what I needed. I keep putting off going to confession. Our church has it at 3pm on Saturdays. Even when I plan to go, time gets away from me and before I know it, I missed my chance. I just need to set an alarm, we set them for every other meeting. Time to put Him first!

Hi Joe, I was enjoying your reflection as if I was reading a short story. Your description of leaving work,walkking to a beautiful old church, and being inside waiting in line for confession. And then BAM, do I put myself before God? And the word discipline. I am going to pray and think/ponder of those two things, I hope for the rest of my life. Thank you
