Some thoughts to share:

Today is the last reading from the book of Micah which ends on a powerful note of hope and mercy. God will forgive the rebellious people because His character is such – to forgive sin and pardon rebellion. God keeps His promises and His love and promises are more powerful than man’s evil and rebellion.

In the Gospel reading Jesus asks, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" His mother and brethren had come to take him home since the Pharisees and scribes were not taking too kindly to him. Jesus could have returned to the safety and comfort of his home and family, but He knew His time was short and He had so much to do. So stretching out his hand towards his disciples (us) He said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother." Mary exemplified doing the will of the Father perfectly and completely. Her “Yes, may it be done to me according to your will” was nothing but complete obedience, humility and trust in God’s plan. Where would we be without Mary’s YES?
