Thank God we have scriptural scholars to explain the Bible writings to us! If I had lived back then, I’d have wondered aloud, “What is Jesus talking about?…Leaven of the Pharisees and Herod?” Even now I struggle with the interpretation of this Gospel. Holy Spirit, awaken the voice of God within me!

Until I read this reflection, I never even thought about the significance of the number of baskets of leftovers when Jesus fed the four and five thousand. I knew that 12 and 7 were important numbers but didn’t connect it to these two incidents. Thanks, Bob, for once again deepening my understanding of the Gospel.
