What a thoughtful reflection on these readings. What got my attention was how you show practical ways every day in which we can choose life or death. Not some vague notion but real choices we face daily in which we can decide what direction we take our lives. By our own wills or guided by God’s plan for us.

When I read this passage from Deuteronomy, I also think of the passage from Joshua 24:15

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

I also like where you said: “He also wants us to choose the blessing, to choose life now.”. Our pastor likes to ask us, “when does eternity begin?” His answer? At the moment of conception. We begin our journey home at the beginning of our existence. And we get to choose if we want to bring that journey to fullfillment.

God sent you to me – for sure – the OCD planner….. I work for older nuns who are frequently interrupting my day with this or that…. I am always ” hammer down” in my work…. looking up into the faces of these women who gave it all as they knock on my door assures me that the tactical work will get done if I do Gods work first.

Thanks Mary, me too! off work on Wednesday and planned to go to mass, but was unable due to circumstances that changed. I am also coming up to retirement and thinking more and more of deeper surrender to our Lord as there won’t be work commitments, your writing has inspired
