Jack – Noah was a good man who found favor with God. In the book of Genesis it does not say that Noah was sinless.

To the writer of the flood I say let go of the “practical” and feel the love. Practicality, taken to the exclusion of spirituality, is very impractical. The good news is the covenant still holds even for the very practical and “realists” like you Jack.

I gained a new understanding of the ‘rainbow’ throughout the ages, and that God has kept his promises again and again, even unto the death of his own Son in order to defeat Satan and gather his children to Him. It troubles me, in our culture today, that we can ‘dumb down’ something as miraculous as a rainbow into simply a scientific phenomenon. There is always a supernatural explanation behind the natural. If Noah and his family were the only ones in the whole world at the time of the flood in God’s favor, who was the first to sin in the second creation. And what was the temptation? From these singular holy people sprang the renewal of sin on the earth. If the rise and fall of Adam and Eve is so profound in establishment of original sin, why isn’t there an equivalent at the second beginning? The covenant, with the sign of a rainbow, glosses over the practical realities.
