All I can think of in response is that all we can control is ourselves and our own view of the world. We can focus on God's gifts to us or take an I don't care attitude. One leads to joy here in this life, along with life eternal. The other is a dead end of despair and loneliness. And God gives us the ability to make that choice.

John C: nice point. I wondered if we could use the phrase (In the name of God) in a suitable different language, which makes it more special than common words in English - perhaps Latin “In nomine Dei”? In England we are surrounded by ‘Don’t cares’ and ‘Never thought about its’. Any thoughts?

Dr. Analise,
What a simple, powerful prayer!
Guide me Lord to navigate my day as per your will. For you alone are my Lord and Almighty! I will try to remember to pray it each morning. God bless you in your work.

Regrettably, life doesn't become easier. Yet, God is with us. We go forth. Quiet time is so essential in our world today. We are bombarded with messages from chirping phones, " pings" of Instant messages, emails, television, social media for those who have it. It just adds to the stress. A Sunday Sabbath with our Lord, sharing a chai and being still is bliss.

My daughter lives in Senegal and is surrounded by the Muslim faith. Muslims have a phrase they use whenever they are about to do anything. Eat, sleep, wake up, work, etc. The phrase is "Bismillah" and means "In the name of God". That we carry God with us in all we do. Especially, when caring for others. As Marylou said, you carry God with you every minute of every day. God gave you your skills for a reason and you are fulfilling that call. I think maybe pray a simple
Bismillah throughout the day and you will keep in your heart all the good you are doing in the name of God.

Your ministry as an oncologist is your prayers to the Lord! You are using your God given talents to those in need. God hears your prayers as you start a surgery or when you do your daily rounds and I think He is pleased. You are living your faith. And it is tough to squeeze in a few moments alone with the Lord, but I bet you are already doing that-in the elevators, walking to your car… you are enough! And God loves you as you are.
