In reply to <a href="https://www.acatholic.org/the-will-of-god-2/#comment-2467">Bob Burford</a>.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your kind words. I have a little bit of scripture for you to dive into:-) Paul had some beautiful things to say about being clothed in Christ - I hope you enjoy.

Galatians 3:27
As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (my comments: it is helpful to realize that Paul said this before we had the sacrament of Reconciliation, given this, once Baptized there was great emphasis on remaining sin free - i.e. clothed in Christ)

1 Corinthians 15:53
For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

2 Corinthians 5:2-4
For in this tent we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling — if indeed, when we have taken it off we will not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan under our burden, because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. (my comments: I see our painful emotions as part of the burden we groan under and I see "this tent" as our current physical life)

Colossians 3:12
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. (my comment: here we see the healing emotions/behavior that clothes us in Jesus Christ)

Hope this help Bob! Have a blessed day my friend!!! - Carolyn

Wow! I could not get a handle on the reading from Judges 11 but you opened my eyes offering his daughter as a burnt offering. He didn't have to do it. You laid open the question of how do we know God's will. It is not from our desires but His. We have to be open and as the Psalms say and stop and commit to "Here I am Lord". What we think or feel should be on the back burner. The important thing is what God wants. The answer seems to be putting on Christ and that daily constant relationship.
I feel uneasy here because it does not give me a scriptural answer. The answer seems to be in trust. Trusting our relationship with Christ. I am still uneasy here. Thanks, I think.

Thanks Carolyn for the above message. You are right! Negative emotions prevent us from enjoying our relationship with God. Keep up the good work. God bless you and your family always.
