Hey Bob,

Remember, there is a difference between pain and suffering.

And without getting all philosophical or scientific, pain is a response to a stimulus. There is no “good” or “bad”. It is a symptom. Find the cause to try to elevate it. (It’s much more complicated than that, but you get the idea.)

Suffering is a state of being.

The best example that I can give you of the difference between the two is St Lawrence. Being roasted alive must have been incredibly painful, but what did he cheerfully say to his persecutor? “I’m well done on this side. Turn me over!”

Hope this helps,

Thank you Bob. I also like the simplicity of good pain and bad pain. The suffering encountered in either can all be united with Christ.

Wonderful reflection Bob. Thank you.

Hope. A four letter word that I envision as “the light at the end” of my tunnel. And boy, at times my tunnel seems never ending.

Jesus IS the Light!! He is that glimmering sparkle at the end of MY tunnel and I pray that all who feel dark, down, depressed, alone, in pain and “HOPELESS” that they may find peace and hope in our Lord.

Faith the size of a mustard seed....
