I too, love your explanations. Father just for the record,
I know words can be interpreted in many different ways. Your commentary did not appear to me as demeaning to males in any way.
Thank you for your thoughtful writings.

What a patriarchal dogma you preach, Father Lawrence. Maybe what you say would have bern true in the 1950s and is still true in patriarchal societies around the world, but you're not giving male human beings any credit. By talking over and over how difficult it was for Joseph to accept Mary when she was pregnant with someone else's child, you're equating male human beings with the lesser animals who reproduce and rear offspring due to instinct alone. And if they detect that the offspring aren't theirs, they kill them or abandon them.

Please give both Joseph and your fellow men credit and believe that they both have and can apply reason to their decisions. Otherwise, you are saying that adoptive fathers can't love or rear their children as well as biological fathers. A dangerous proposition for pro-life adherents.

And, the child wasn't some random person's child. It was God's Son! You really think that Joseph would have had issues with that? How about pride that God entrusted him with His Son, and actually Himself?

I felt today's messages were a call to action: to be better in our families and in our marriages, to have greater respect for each other, to be more mindful of how we treat one another...to be better. Therein lies the makings of tremendous New Year's resolutions and of a renewed commitment to our faith. Thank you, Father.
