Hey Joe,

Hopefully you won't be taking my view on your reflection as a hurtful comment.

The title of your reflection and the ending prayer made me stop and think. In today's reading, Jesus is directly quoting Dt 6:5 with His answer to the Pharisee's question, He is describing spiritual love. Agape. Until I understand and experience agape, I will not know what it is. Which the title and prayer lead me to ask, how can one observe agape?

In other words, you can teach someone how to act, but I don't think you can teach someone how to love? That has to come from within. No? For example, since you are a runner, you could describe what it is like to run a marathon to me, but until I experience it, I will have no idea what it is.

By the way, O's comment is fanatic, considering the next one was from anonymous.

Keep up the good work,

Mark

Thank you, Joe. I love the point you made about letting God heals us first. Then we can more fully love God. Only then we can love our neighbor. Jesus knew we had to turn to God first to learn how to love, so He can teach us. Then, we are to spread it to others around us, as well as ourselves. It's really simple, but not easy. The lies and distractions of the world threaten to get ahold of me every day. But starting each day off right, reading scripture and the reflections at A Catholic Moment have helped tremendously. God bless all.
