Thank you. So if they weren't in the Hebrew canon are they just interesting stories from the Greek culture? I know my faith does not depend on the Bible written by men, but I can understand why those books are not in Protestant bibles. Does the Jewish religion read those books?

From what my research shows Luther removed these books because these books were not park of the original Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) but were included in the Greek translation...the Septuagint. So Luther felt they did not belong in the Old Testament and included them as an appendix called the Apocrypha. Here is an AI summary of what I found:

Luther's View: Martin Luther placed them in a separate section called the Apocrypha, finding them useful for reading but not authoritative for doctrine, as they weren't in the Hebrew canon.
Hebrew vs. Greek Canon: Protestants emphasized the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) as the primary Old Testament, excluding books present in the Greek Septuagint (the Old Testament used by early Christians) that weren't in the Hebrew version.
Doctrinal Concerns: Some books, like 2 Maccabees (which mentions prayers for the dead), touched on practices (like purgatory) that Reformers rejected, further influencing their removal.

Good morning! Very interesting today, an important history lesson about the journey of the Christian faith.
One question. Why were these two important books removed from the Bible after the reformation?
