Thank you John for your thoughtful reflection. I like this part of the gospel…I believe the Holy Spirit will give us the right words to say. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to come to our life and listen his promptings. And yes, forgiveness…a very difficult thing to do. But, we need it to bring peace to our mind, body and spirit. Lord, help us to forgive others and ourselves…and love everyone, especially those who are hard to love. Amen.

Dr. John, You were certainly guided by the Holy Spirit to shine a light on forgiving others as we ask Our Father to forgive us. And it does not mean going back to the person to possibly be offended again. It is about a cleansing that allows us to move on without the burden that has weighed us down. I loved how you shared the three-plus steps you take in preparing your reflection. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Yes, John, very well again, but… On “forgiveness”, I always link it with the mission of St. John the Baptist. I believe there is a pre-requisite to “be forgiven”. That is the REPENTANCE on the part of the one who is to be forgiven. Consider how a nation of innocent sufferers would or could forgive the dictator who has brought about and still persists in doing great damage, and who swears never to regret having done all that and continues his way…
