Thank you for the reflection John. Very thoughtful. As you stated early on, we have heard this story many times. What can I find new in it? What struck me today is the fact that the prodigal son had to recognize that he was “dying from hunger” and the need to return to his father. Also, the son “longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed”. So many of us long for pods, when our Father offers us so much more.

Thanks John, for this very interesting take on the story of the Prodigal Son.I believe that it was the Holy Spirit who guided you in your decision to study out of state.Perhaps painful for your parents,but his plan unfolded for you in ways that you probably never imagined.Peace be with you.

Another great reflection. The parable of the Prodigal son is one of my favorites. It may be viewed from so many different angles and this is a new one for me. We have at one point in our lives, been the prodigal, the older brother, and the forgiving father.
