Excellent Reflection, Bro. John.!! This was so enlightening for me. I often wonder why we ‘do’ what we do or proclaim likewise. I know it’s God Inspired… & now I know one of the persons that actually listened to that Inspiration,,, The Holy Spirit.

I thank you for a well-researched and thoughtful reflection. However often there is present a church militant underlying the presentation. Married priests were common in the Church until then 11 century. One reason for the advocacy of celibacy was the very worldly concern of inheritance if priest were married. Also the Orthodox before and after the Great Schism allowed priest the choice which 90 percent chose marriage. The remaining 10 percent could aspire to be a Bishop. The model worked smoothly for that great Sacramental church. Finally I know personally of a Mehodist minister who is married, converted to Catholicism and was allowed during Pope John Paul 11 to be ordained and remain married. So the deposit of faith is and has always been challenging. So no matter how well written and strenulously proclaimed it is usually NOT binary: Church good anything else bad
