Thanks for your reply John. I do agree that there is a significant historical ceremony in Christianity with the bread and wine.
Peace brother.

Thanks John for a great reflection! But, I think you meant John 15:5 for the verse. Thanks also for reminding us to put our trust in Jesus...He never fails, trust me! Yes, the moon landing was indeed a small step for man, but a giant leap for mankind. Good examples of placing our trust in others to do the right thing. We pray that we continue to strengthen our faith in Jesus, our Savour and master healer...Praise God!

Hey Skip. You are correct that only the Catholic Church proclaims that the bread and wine turns completely into the body and blood (transubstantiation). Lutherans believe they share form as bread/body and wine/blood (consubstantiation). Though we should also realize the Lutheran ministers are not part of apostolic succession and therefore do not have the power of consecration. All other faiths treat their version of communion as symbols of the body and blood. So they use the ceremony to create community within the congregation, it does not represent the true eucharist. This is why I mentioned that it was a Presbyterian pastor. So that all would understand that this was not the body and blood of Christ. But still a significant historical ceremony in Christianity.

After all these years I am still in awe of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. There was something profound in that moment, that has stayed with me ever since.
Thank you John, for using that historic moment to illustrate today’s gospel passage.
As a natural born worrier,I pray that my trust and faith in God will continue to grow deeper and that I place all my trust in him.

Nice reflection John,
I'm sure this line raised a few eyebrows saying (Aldrin consumed the bread and wine sent with him by his Presbyterian pastor).
Tell me if I'm wrong but does the catholic church recognize the Presbyterian body and blood of Christ as the "true" body and blood of Christ???
I'm not questioning Aldrins faith but the stance of the catholic beliefs.
What say you John?

John, thank you for your reflection. Technically, I believe, because Aldrin was not Catholic and did not receive communion from a Catholic priest, I don't think we can say that he received communion on a cosmic body other than earth. A good reflection nonetheless.

Thank you Dr John! What a journey we are on! My salutation to my adult grandchildren for several years was Peace and Love. Joy was added after a time. This year I've been prompted by the Holy Spirit to add Faith and Hope. So I say Faith Hope Love Peace and Joy. On this journey called life as I travel to Eternity may my heart and mind be filled with God's will!

Faith Hope Love Peace and Joy fellow ACM writers and readers.

Thank you John. I didn't know about the Aldrin and the Bible verse. That is amazing...the bread and wine...INCREDIBLE. I will look at the moon differently from here on. What inspiration to cement our faith. Peace my brother.
