Thank you John. I enjoyed reading that. I may be wrong, but when I read your reflections I get a lot of humor and figured you were being facetious about the board of the Christian church more worried about their reputations and church attendance than rejoicing about a miracle that happened right before their eyes. Thank you for using contemporary film examples and for being honest about the temptation most of us often share to “lay low” and not be noticed for our faith. I think there so many good scenes in the movie Heaven is for Real, well acted and not cheesy.

I haven’t seen the movie you reference but am sad that the board of a Christian church would be embarrassed that their minister believes heaven to be a real place. We, as Christians, should all believe that heaven is real. The difficult part for me is imagining what heaven is really like, not that it exists. Great reflection, as always. I enjoyed the clip from “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

Yes, and people, ordinary (so to speak) Catholics do this: a good friend of mine, a practicing Catholic as the saying goes, said her son had become a “fanatic” when he became a Minister of the Word in his parish. That’s all he was doing besides Mass and Sacraments, he was reading at Mass. Anything, I think, that puts pressure on us to sit down and really, really believe, triggers a reaction. Thank you for your reflection.
